Frequently Asked Questions
Let's make this make sense.
What services do you offer?
I offer individual and family therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. I use strategies from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, DBT, play therapy, narrative therapy, and art therapy. During our first session, we can make a plan for what kind of therapy may best fit your needs, and also adjust as we go along.
Note: I unfortunately do not provide court-ordered custody or reunification counseling. This is a specialized service and I can provide outside referrals if needed.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not contract directly with any insurance providers. However, if your insurance plan allows for reimbursement (most common with PPO plans), I can provide the necessary documentation to submit to your insurance company. You can also use FSA/HSA funds for therapy if there is a debit card attached to your HSA/FSA account.
What are your fees?
The standard fee for a 50-minute session is $165. Sliding scale options may be available upon request in cases of financial hardship.
How does play therapy work?
Play therapy can look very different from the traditional talk therapy that adults have experienced or seen in pop culture. This can lead many parents to wonder what therapeutic work is being done when their child is playing games, using puppets, or building in the sandbox during their therapy sessions. However, play therapy is an evidence-based approach that taps into children's natural ability to use play to explore feelings, process experiences, and build new skills. The therapist can guide or respond to a child's play strategically to prompt emotional reflection, encourage healthy self-esteem, and engage specific brain areas and functions to build healthier pathways in the nervous system.
